You may not need to go out and buy a bigger house, but you do need to consider that your study should be converted into the nursery. It can be a big job, but it can be one of the most exciting things that you do as part of your pregnancy. So, what does your baby’s nursery need to have?

Colors

You want to choose something calming for a nursery. A fresh coat of a light, pastel color is going to make the entire room look so airy and large. You don’t have to go traditional blue or pink, either, especially not when there are beautiful themes with lemon yellow or mint green. Check out these nursery color palette ideas so that you can make the best decision for the nursery you put together for your baby.

Furniture

Heading out to furniture stores is fun but make yourself a list of what you need before you go. They need somewhere to sleep and keep their clothes are the main focuses. A functional changing table with drawers to store the diapers, wipes, and other baby equipment is a plus to have. Color matching the furniture with the theme of the room is a popular option for a lot of parents, so shop around for sturdy equipment you can anchor to the walls, and don’t forget your rocking chair!

Lighting

Your nursery space should be delicately lit. Bright enough to see what you’re doing when you need to, but when it comes to night feeds you should be able to do so with minimal light. Adding dimmers to the main light switches and having low lit lamps around the nursery for ease of use.

Bedding

Every nursery needs to be comfortable, so a breathable mattress with a fitted sheet in the cot are all you need. You can buy some stunning sleeping bags for the baby to sleep in, where blankets aren’t quite appropriate for a newborn.

A nursery should be a place of calm and zen and it’s easy to make it so with the right themes and a lot of hard work. Get creative and make your nursery the calming influence you want for your baby.
