The majority of families will have some sort of pet at some point or another. There are so many benefits that come hand in hand with incorporating a domesticated animal into your family. Children with pets are generally more sympathetic, compassionate, and kind. They also tend to have stronger immune systems! Now, if you are planning on taking on a pet, you need to remember that they are a lifelong responsibility. We cannot emphasize how important it is for you to conduct research into different species and breeds of animals in order to understand exactly what you’re signing up for when you decide to take one into your life.

When it comes to dogs, you can make a good guess at what you’re going to get with a pup of a specific breed. As different dogs were bred for different purposes and thus tend to have similar strengths, capabilities, and character traits. Now, it would be impossible to consider every type of pet in just one article. So for now, let’s focus on one of the most family friendly breeds of dog out there: the Bichon Frise, whose name translates from French as “curly pet”!
Adopt Don’t Shop
Before we get into the benefits of Bichons for families over other dogs, it’s worth mentioning that you should seriously consider adopting a Bichon rather than purchasing one directly from a breeder. There are thousands of these beautiful pups sitting in shelters just looking for a loving home. If you’re unsure as to whether a certain pooch that has caught your eye is a Bichon or not, you can always carry out a mars dna test which will give you a full understanding of the pup’s heritage.
Benefits of a Bichon Frise
Size
The Bichon Frise falls into the toy breed category of dogs. The average Bichon still comes in at a relatively small nine to eleven inches tall at the shoulder and will weigh a relatively lightweight seven to twelve pounds. This means that they are small lap dogs that can fit well into almost any kind of homes. From apartments to mansions, and that they won’t require quite as much exercise as larger dogs. These pooches can have high energy levels, a lot of this energy is exerted in playfulness. And while they do need daily exercise, a half an hour walk once a day should suffice to meet their needs.
Personality
Another benefit of Bichons is that they were originally bred as companion animals for French royalty. They are not only beautiful and majestic looking, but they tend to have soft and loving personalities too! This is great for families with children! They may even show the little ones that they can do a few tricks.
Hypoallergenic Qualities
Besides their convenient size and ideal personalities, Bichons also have a significant advantage over many breeds in that they are considered to be “hypoallergenic”. Their coat doesn’t shed, which has multiple benefits. If you have an allergy to pet hair, you may actually be able to own a Bichon Frise without experiencing allergy symptoms. It also means that you don’t have to worry about pet hair gathering over your personal effects. Because the hair doesn’t fall out and continues growing consistently, however, you do need to bear in mind that they need regular grooming. This task can be minimized by keeping the coat a little shorter and brushing daily at home. Or you could consider sending your little bear to the professional groomers’ every couple of weeks.
When choosing a groomer for your Bichon, make sure that you do plenty of research into the establishment that you intend to use. You want to look out for good reviews and recommendations. You can also always feel free to ask to see their facilities. This will give you the opportunity to watch part of a dog’s grooming. This will allow you to check that everything is safe and clean. It will give you peace of mind to know that the dogs in the salons’ care are treated well. You can also ensure that they have the right equipment to deal with your Bichons’ specialist hair type.
As you can see, the Bichon Frise could prove to be the perfect pet for your family. They are small, loving, and they won’t leave fur all over your house, clothes, and car!
