6 Things You Can Do With Your Loft Conversion

Loft conversion

If you run out of space in your home, the next best option you have is to convert your attic or basement. However, not a lot of homeowners can sacrifice their basement for, say, a new bedroom or living space.

This is a contributed post and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of Meet The Harris Family.

But attics are different. They are mostly used for storage, sometimes untouched for months or years on end. What if you can convert it into something useful?

Plenty of loft conversion projects in Guildford and other places are both high-quality and affordable. Here are some things that you can use the extra space for:

  1. Bedroom

Adding another member to the family requires a lot of additional space, and when you live in a three-bedroom house with four kids, things can get too cramped too easily.

Whether it’s a new baby or a teenager who doesn’t want to share a room anymore, building a new bedroom in your loft is a great way to get additional space without moving into a new house. Alternatively, you can use it as a guest bedroom or a rental bedroom for tenants.

Playroom

  1. Playroom

If you’re tired of seeing toys scattered throughout the house and if there isn’t enough room in your kids’ bedrooms to play, why not convert your attic into a playroom? It can give them a separate space to play, do homework, and entertain friends without making a mess in the rest of the house. More importantly, having their own playroom can teach them about responsibility for keeping their space clean.

  1. Office

Do you want a home office but don’t want to convert one of your bedrooms for it? A loft conversion is your next best solution. With a home office in the attic, you can enjoy a quiet working space away from the main part of the house. And if your work involves sensitive files, you can keep the attic a restricted space, especially if you have young kids.

  1. Studio

Playing instruments, making art, and recording music can be difficult to do in a bedroom or living room–you can’t make much noise or mess without inconveniencing other people in the house. For this reason, converting your attic into a studio is an excellent idea. You can have a private space for your art and music, and you can even soundproof the room so that noise is blocked from coming in or out.

Exercise Room

  1. Exercise room

Have you always dreamed of having a gym at home? Turn your attic into an exercise room where you can do yoga, workout, and lift weights without going to an actual gym. By not paying for a gym membership, the loft conversion will eventually pay for itself.

  1. Entertainment room

Do you want a space solely for entertainment? Consider a loft conversion that can turn your attic into an entertainment room with games, a flat-screen TV, surround-sound, a pool table, and even a mini-bar.

If you require more usable space in your home, you don’t need to sacrifice a bedroom or pay for a costly extension. Consider a loft conversion instead and use the space for these ideas when you transform your attic.
